Media pc help

Using an alienware laptop for media pc but it is on its death bed....need to build a nice quite media pc with easy access from sound card to amp. Mainly just streaming HD from NAS though would like it fast. Been out of the loop for a few years and not sure whats out there. Whats up with the mini nvidia boards?
Have N1 network
Any help, links to new systems ect?

Ok...around $600.00 budget. Network streaming HD movie content..1080. Music and photos. 7.1 sound...Surfing the net. simple and quiet.
