what unique features distinguishes IBM laptops from others?

Personally, I find that their keyboards are the best thing about them. Although, I hear the latest models aren't following the same design. They are also very solid compared to other laptops.

Excellent keyboards, very sturdy build, reliability and customer support, and a wide range of options to choose from. They're probably the best-built PC laptops you'll find.
This applies to almost all Thinkpads, even since Lenovo bought the product line from IBM.

The ability to remove all style and coolness from a laptop.....

good machines though but boring as hell IMO

Thinkpads are very sturdy, no nonsense business grade laptops. Excellent security, magnesium hard drive cages, etc...

and no one cares they look like a plastic brick lol come on we may be geeks but we still have style with our computers

yes. business do care for reliability and not style. That laptop isn't going to keep on running after a few years if to much work was put into looks.
