I want to know which one is better in the performance:
AMD x4 3Ghz with 4MB cache or AMD x2 3Ghz with 7MB cache ?

Performance in what applications specifically?

For encoding and transcoding as well as Folding@Home the AMD X4 3GHz will be quicker.

For gaming, it will depend on the title but the AMD X2 3GHz should be quicker in most titles.
