Hi,
apologies for the same old question, but I am overhauling my pc and am wondering if i need to buy a slighty more powerful psu.
I currently have the Corsair TX 750W, and it would power the following:
Asus P6td Deluxe
3 sticks of Corsair Dominators 2GB
i7 920
GTX 260 SLI
Asus Xonar Sound card
1 SATA hard drive
1 DVD RW
4 or so LED fans in the Coolermaster HAF
looking at the PSU calculator on this website: http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine.com, I should have enough (gives an estimate of 573 watts), but i plan on overclocking the CPU and both GPU's.
When I put in the i7 920 at 4 GHz and 1.4 volts i get a recommendation of 696 watts, but the calculator does not give me the option of overclocking the GPU's.
I have read elsewhere that overclocking a GPU can use up to 20 additional watts, which would leave me with needing 746 watts.
So not much head room. But then I have also heard that the manufacturer is often more important that the rated wattage, so was just seeing what people thought, and whether anyone has powered a similar setup?
The PSU calculator gives you a wattage reccomendation for a psu that can safely power all of the components you have inserted, not the actual power consumption of those components.
You'll have no problem with your 750TX
so as long as i have a psu above the figure it gives me, and with a decent make, I should be cushty. The overclocking won't be limited by the psu. Sweet.
The Corsair TX750 is a high quality power supply that can power an overclocked Intel Core i7 920 system with two video cards operating in dual mode so you should not have any problems with just one GTX260 video card.

It seems as though i'll have enough, but just to clarify in response to JohnnyLucky I will be using two GTX 260's in SLI, and overclocking them as much as possible.
