Hey guys, I'm in my usual I-want-a-new-system mode, so what do you think of the build below? Shopping to be conducted only at NewEgg, and I might put down some money within the next month or so.


Total Cost: $1030

This system will never be overclocked, and will be used for gaming and some video editing. Any potential issues?

Is there any reason why you want to go with LGA775 Quad?

With that money, you could go with PII 955

I'm assuming that the Q6600 would provide good render speeds for composing my video edits... in any case, what mobo would you recommend for the 955?

I would switch to an AM3 cpu and board with ddr3 and got with a 4890 1gb. Faster than the GTX 260 for the same price.

I am, with one exception (HTPC), biased toward Intel.

r_manic, I would replace the Q6600 with a Q9550 and dump the Velociraptor and use the WD 640 Black for primary drive and a WD 1 TB Green for storage. That's actually what I did.

Same drive recommendation if you use AMD.
