I asked some of my teachers about what is a mosfet, and they weren't sure but they new of mosfet amplifiers, what are mosfet amplifiers and are the used in mobos, Also I heard that they are like voltage regulators, What exactley do the do and how do the work?

Many Thanks

There are two common types of transistors, MOSFETs and BJTs (bipolar junction transistors)

MOSFETs have properties which make them more desirable to uses in digital (logic) circuits (like CPUs) BJTs have properties which make then more desirable to use in analog circuits (like amplifiers).

However, mosfet amplifiers are very popular because it allows you to use the same fabrication process to integrate digital and analog circuitry onto the same chip in a cost effective manner.

As for how they work, mosfet amps work on the same general principles of all other amps. Its simply an amp thats built with mosfets. To really explain how they work requires a good deal of electrical engineering knowledge.
