Hello, can anyone help me with this please. My computer is getting restarted while formatting.

While formatting what? Please provide as much detail as possible.

My computer configuration is processor: pentium 4 ram: DDR 2 - 2 GB hdd: SATA Motherboard: Intel. I was trying to format my computer because it's keep on restarting after few minutes from starting time. Now while i format my computer in NTFS mode and it's getting formatted but it gets restarted while it reaches the blue screen where the installation process will be carried on. Can u help me? Is that a hardware or software problem?

What disk are you trying to format? Disks are formatted, not computers.

Random re-start may be due to a power interruption. Make sure that the computer is plugged into a wall outlet. And, if you format the C: drive, you ill lose the OS and all data files on it.

Try formatting (NTFS) a different disk and see what happens.

No. Try formatting a different disk just to see whether that disk will format ok.

Hi

I was trying to format my computer because it's keep on restarting after few minutes from starting time

So basically you had this problem before formatting:

Random restart are happen usually because of a bad component, power supply problems, or over heating.

Have you removed dust from cpu fan ? If not you might want to clean it up.


If you can get into the bios you can check your cpu temps from there.

I would try a working power supply and run a check disk on your hard drive.

I had this kind of problem with a faulty hard drive controller on MB, it had to be changed (since you computer is aging)

If you can get you BSOD code it would give us a good idea on the problem.
