I have a dell dimension 8200 runnng xp home, it had a bad dvd drive and fan. I didn't want to have to buy a new computer, so I bought a refurbished one. (It was actually cheaper than buying parts) I changed out the parts, and now I want to add the hard drive from the one I bought to my original computer as a second hard drive. This hard drive has windows XP pro on it. Do I need to format the hard drive with xp pro, or can I just put it in my original computer? Thanks much for any help.

You should format the XP home cuz the XP pro is a lot better

I would, but the refurbished one has no discs, just the operating system installed on it

In that case yes format the XP pro

but if u still have a bit of money left over, just buy Win 7, a lot better than XP and Vista
