My trouble is that the DVD-RAM drive is not showing up as a HD in the disk drives part of the device manager and annot write to it. It DOES show up as a CDROM, howan i fix this problem ?

Yor DVD is not a hard drive. It is a removable storage device. you should be able to access it as a DVD removeable disk if you have it hooked up right.
