ATI HD Audio rear output

my computer says that i have ATI HD AUDIO rear output but everytime i plug it in or anything no sound comes out of the speakers, i know its not the speakers cause i use my ipod with them and they work fine

Go to speakers in task bar, right click, playback devices,choose speakers (ATI HD audio), cofigure and make sure you have them set for 5.1 or 7.1 audio (depending which setup you have)
