Hello Everybody:

I'm writing this message while waiting for a reply in the Motherboards section of the forum, to the question of whether the PSU is ATX or not http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] ng-everest.

If the described PSU in not an ATX, can I install a new ATX power supply?

(If you haven't read the message in the Motherboards section, it's about my dad's system, which is pretty weak and OLD, really old, the motherboard is "Gigabyte GA-6VX7-4X " ).

Alright that's all, I'll appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Its a socket 370, just let it die, its not worth resurrecting a zombie. The last bios update for it was from 2001, it would definitely require an ATX 1.x PSU anyway which will be hard to find, older motherboards like that drew most of their power from the 5 and 3.3 volt rails rather than the 12 volt rail like a modern system.

Give the model fo the PSU, i can't just say like that, find the model and then google it. It should say all the information you need.

So I guess, I will not buy a new PSU, and probably convince my dad to buy himself a new computer.

hunter315 Thank you for the information, and the advise.
