Hey I am looking to build my own system. Here are the specs

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Next week
BUDGET RANGE: 1300-1400 Canadian Dollar so likely 1200-1300 USD

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, internet, general use

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, network card

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Buying from custom computer store

PARTS PREFERENCES: reliablilty important, no brand loyalty.

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes

MONITOR RESOLUTION: Not picked monitor yet. Good bang for buck. I welcome any suggestions in the $150-200 range.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Reliability is important for me. Ive been looking into a P45 Diamond MOBO and either a Q8200, Q8300 or Phenom II X4 CPU. Also 4gb of DDR2 ram.

The value of the Canadian dollar is almost even to the USD, but prices don't reflect that. If you live near the border at all, that might suggest something to you.

Those would be the places to shop in Canada. If you buy from a local shop you will pay more and end up with less for your dollar.
Buying the monitor from a local shop would be a good idea though.

For 1300 USD you could probably put together a good i7 rig, but I think you will have to go with an AMD quad in Canada.

NCIX will also do price match which will help you out, i head direct canada has cheaper prices so shop around and use NCIX in the end. A PII 945 is stronger than either of those intel options and costs about the same. Consider an AM3 build with DDR3 ram.
