I have an HP dx530 desktop with a 3.2 GHz P4 (and 800 MHz FSB). Is there a CPU upgrade for this socket 478 motherboard that will give me 64 bit processing and hopefully also maintain my 800 MHz bus?

Unfortunately, there aren't any 64 bit cpus for socket 478; you will need to do a system upgrade. If you need help with a new build, post a thread in the homebuilt section.

Why would you need to upgrade to 64 bits?

Any reasons?
