Does anyone know if a card can have an SLI connector broke and the card still function properly except sli doesnt work? i have 2 285s and they dont work in sli very well

I can't think of why not. The SLI connector is usually on the other side and is another interface.

I couldn't think of why that the SLI interface would impact the actual PCIE interface.
