Need help in upgrading my CPU for my MOBO Tags: CPUs Product Last response: November 9, 2009 7:39 PM in CPUs Share Scar13 November 9, 2009 4:11:26 PM Good day everyone, As my PC is now 2 years old I need to look at upgrades.. I am currently running a MSI p6n NON platinum accepts socket lga 775.. My CPU is a core 2 duo e6600 and I am running 4 gigs of corsair ddr2 6400 xms2 extreme My question is is worth upgrading the CPU to a e8500?? Or is there a better CPU to upgrade too?? I would prefer not to upgrade the MOBO if at all possible.. I am also running a8800 gtx, and will be upgrading to a ati 5850, if that is possible? any thoughts and feedback welcome! Core 2 duo e8500 189.99 Scar13 November 9, 2009 5:33:02 PM yeah that Quad core isnt supported... How big a diffrence is the e6600 to the e6850 then?? pepperman a b à CPUs November 9, 2009 5:41:51 PM Bou'd be going from 2.4 GHz to 3 GHz, so thats up to 25% performance increase. With the gpu upgrade, you will have a powerful gaming machine. warmon6 a b à CPUs November 9, 2009 5:55:14 PM Scar13 said:yeah that Quad core isnt supported... It all depends on what you plan to use your pc for. Scar13 November 9, 2009 7:39:30 PM I only use this pc for browsing and gaming, As of late wow has intermitent lock ups...
