Good day everyone,

As my PC is now 2 years old I need to look at upgrades..

I am currently running a MSI p6n NON platinum accepts socket lga 775..

My CPU is a core 2 duo e6600 and I am running 4 gigs of corsair ddr2 6400 xms2 extreme

My question is is worth upgrading the CPU to a e8500?? Or is there a better CPU to upgrade too??

I would prefer not to upgrade the MOBO if at all possible..

I am also running a8800 gtx, and will be upgrading to a ati 5850, if that is possible?

any thoughts and feedback welcome!

Well according to MSI update I am at version 2.5,

Now is the e8500 better then the e6850 for example?

Not realy. it wont be noticeable. If you want notice able performance increase then i would go after Core 2 Quad Q9400 $189.99

Here the cpu you were looking into. Core 2 duo e8500 189.99

yeah that Quad core isnt supported...

How big a diffrence is the e6600 to the e6850 then??

Bou'd be going from 2.4 GHz to 3 GHz, so thats up to 25% performance increase. With the gpu upgrade, you will have a powerful gaming machine.

if you can afford the jump from the E6600 to the E8400 then the performance jump would be noticeable. It all depends on what you plan to use your pc for.
