Hello,i have a pair of mushkin pc2 8500 4gb ram modules (2x2gb). in my bios it shows they are running at ddr2800. when i tried to up the clock speed by going 333/1066 the pc would not boot up and i had to reset the jumper. my motherboard is the dfi lanparty ut x48 my cpu is the Q9450. i find it weird as the chip shold be able to attain 1066 the cpu runs at 1333fsb and shows up as 333 in the bios. in the bios i have a range of optin for the ram starting from 200/800 all the way down to 400/1066 and i decided to set it at 333/1066 but it would not take it. can you help me please because i think im not getting the best out of my ram.

This is correct, There are no JEDEC standards for DDR2 8500Mhz.. PC28500 is simply RAM guarateed to perform at 1066MHz. a 8.5GB/sec. data transfer rate. DDR2 8500 will show up at the JEDEC standard of PC2 6400 (it is PC26400 guaranteed to run at PC28500 speed). The PC2 8500 will have to be set manually to 1066MHz. The speed, timings and voltage are manually adjustable in BIOS.

In BIOS set the RAM speed, timings and voltage to RAM mfg. specifications. It's written on the DIMM usually. DDR2 8500 will require the latency to be set to CAS5 with a voltage of 2.0-2.1v. generally speaking.

The RAM specs will look something like this. Set it there in BIOS. PC28500 1066MHz., 5-5-5-15, 2.1v.
