Yep, everything u put in front of the fans will restrict airflow. Its a question of how much it matters to u. 
Some guys are insane with dust, while others go crazy on the airflow. I agree with the airflow crazy ppl. Dust can be cleaned easily, but in some situations (like if you have carpets or hairy dogs around) putting a filter is a better idea. Just remember to balance your intake and your exhaust (not because of dust, but to cool the system effectively).
