My friend is currently selling his old Dell system, I plan to use it (If I but it) for a HTPC, or homework computer. How much would you guys pay for this? :

AMD Semrpon 3400+ 1.8GHz Socket AM2
1GB Crucial DDR2 RAM
80GB Hitachi SATA HDD
Nvidia 8400GS 256MB - bought separately
DVD-ROM/CD Burner
Comes with Windows XP pre-installed with COA
All in a Dell Case, which is in mint condition I've seen it :)

How much is it worth? Thanks so much!

I'd pay less than a $100 and then I'd use it as a gift to give to a niece or nephew for an internet browser or email. It's an old system and it's uncertain how old the hard drive or PSU will last.

I've got to agree with100islands about $100. The problem with old systems is they just aren't worth much. I get more for donating old systems to a youth club in my area and knocking the donation off my taxes then i'd make if i tried to sell them.

No more than $150 I'd say.

First of all, if this guy is asking for you to pay something for this old outdated system that has been peiced together from leftovers, he is no friend.
$100. That would be the most I would pay.
If you are buying this to do any upgrading, forget it. You are better off starting out with newer parts.
