Ok, I know what was posted here, but DDR2 RAM really won't work with Lynnfield motherboards? Why? Shouldn't DDR3 be backward compatible with DDR2, with the latter providing slower throughput of course?

1. DDR3 = lower volt.
2. DDR3 can't be fit in the DDR2 socket. The little "key" is in another position.

NO - DDR2 and DDR3 do not fit and are not backwards compatible, just the same as DDR2 and DDR were not either.

Like taavi said, they have different specs (voltage being one).

4 GB (2 x 2GB) Crucial Ballistix 4-4-4-12, 8800 GTS 512 SLI

...because the memory controller is built into the processor and therefore can not be changed.

------------------------------ Which Chip? Well, it depends on which set of thieving b@stardz you choose to support: The ones who use insider trading to enrich themselves while running their company into the ground? Or the ones who illegally pay vendors to not support the first group?
