Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
I have a 400 gigs hard drive. (External usb device, Mecer Bravo)that does not respond on any of my pc's. It has a red and green light. Both lights work, I used software recovery products and could retrieve the information.
Now I want to know is there a way to fix the drive.
What happened? My xp switched off without being prompted to. And now the external hard drive is not recognised.
Please if anyone know what I can do so that the drive can be used again, I would really appreciate the help.

You may have had a power sag or surge, or your PSU might be going bad. In any case, it sounds like it fried one or more components of your hard drive or it's enclosure. You can always try removing the drive from the enclosure and try attaching it directly to your motherboard or even in another enclosure.

It might be possible that the hard drive which you are using is outdated or an illegal one. Or your PC is having some problem it is not detecting your hard drive. So you may check it on some other PC.
