Hi guys,

I'm just trying to configure my new pc at pcspecialist.co.uk

I have kind of narrowed it down to two cards:
1GB ATI RADEON™ HD 4890 PCI EXPRESS
1GB ATI RADEON™ HD 4850X2 PCI EXPRESS

They are both quite similar in price, so in that regard I'm different. However, as far as I can tell from reviews both cards seem loud. I figured it might therefore be a good idea to use a cooling system to take off the pressure from the fans, I am offered the following cooling:
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE CPU COOLER, £20
ASUS TRITON 81 PURE COPPER BASE ULTRA COOLER, £50
COOLIT DOMINO A.L.C. CPU LIQUID COOLER, £70

Please give me your thoughts!

Or any suggestions for more quiet GPUs of similar standards? Nvidia any better in this regard?

All of those coolers are for CPUs, not the graphics card. As for noise, I don't find ATI cards objectionable at idle (my 4870x2s get a little loud under load though).

want a quiet graphic card? then buy graphic card with passive cooling solution :D

so far i've never seen 4870/4890 with passive cooling. but there are 4850 with passive cooling from gigabyte but you gonna need good air flow for your case to cool down the card:

maybe you can consider this:
