APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: By August 31, 2009
BUDGET RANGE: CDN$1500
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming (Everything Steam, up-coming Blizzard games Diablo3, SC2, FEAR, Bioshock, etc...Doubt I will venture into Crysis.), Watching movies on my TV, Surfing/bit-torrents,
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Have a Samsung SyncMaster 931BW monitor (will upgrade to a 22"-24" within 6 months), G11 KB, a X16 DVD RW, a Floppy, and an OCZ gaming mouse.
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I originally built my system with Newegg.ca, then emailed the local computer stores in my area to see if they could price match for me, and two of them came damn close to doing it. So in lieu of the shipping costs through Newegg, I will likely buy local. That said, Newegg.ca or NCIX links will more than suffice.

which totals to CDN$1602.34 but also included USD$90 MIR which will keep me pretty at my CDN$1500
OVERCLOCKING: Yes
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1440*900 right now, 1920*1200 eventually.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I originally chose the EVGA mobo and GPU because of their lifetime warranties. I am a little uncertain about the GPU however, because it is in queue to be phased out, or so the A-Power sales rep informed me. This will bung things up for me when I decide to purchase a second GPU to run SLI. Given my current finances, I don't plan to upgrade to SLI for about a year, and would much rather have a card that will be available when said time comes at a decent price. There is little to no chance at me running Tri-SLI which is why I chose a PSU with only 4 connectors.
The local company that offered a similar price match didn't have the OCZ RAM (1600MHz 8-8-8-24 1.65) I was after, and instead offered me some Mushkin EM3-10666 6GB 3X2GB DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9-24 at a higher price...not too keen on it.
I am not 100% sold on the case. Reviews have shown it to have sharp edges, and poor air circulation. But it looks slick, and most air circulation problems are due to poor stock fans, and no holes to hide wires. The new Cosmos 1000 has both of these problems addressed, and may be what I end up getting instead. This, however brings up a new problem which I hadn't considered until today...will I need a CPU heatsink?
