When I click on print, a message appears that states the local spooler is not running? It was clearly running before!

What about a little more info?
What kind of OS you have?
What did you last install?

If you are running from windows xp to windows 7:
Go to Start>>Run
type services.msc
hit enter

scroll down to find "print spooler service"
right click on it and go to properties.
ensure that startup type is set to automatic.
Also click "start"

This will ensure that the print spooler service required for printing is running. If this is not the problem give us some more information as dunklegend said.
