Hello,

I just wondered if this link was the correct update for my chipset?

It lists the E8500, so i thought surely it must be ok for the E8400, or am I wrong? If i any help would be much appreiciated

The e8500 listed is actually a chipset for a server, not a processor, like you're thinking of.

The chipset is attached to the motherboard, in your case, the P45. Then you added in the e8400 CPU. The drivers you found are correct, though, as they're for the 900, 3, 4, and 5 series of chipsets.
