Need to remove drive(s) from extended partition

I have an extended partition extended across 4 1TB drives. No RAID... just a haphazard extended partition. I could not get my RAID card working, so this was the next best option for me.
The partition shows as a single 3.63TB drive in My Computer. The time has come for me to remove at least one drive from the extended partition. 2.00TB is in use and 1.63TB is free. I tried to remove / shrink what appeared to be the "last" drive in the sequence but it would not shrink to smaller than 100GB.
How should I go about making sure the files are moved to only 3 of the 4 drives so that I may remove a drive from the partition? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
1x 40GB PATA drive (Operating System)
4x Samsung 1TB drive
3x DVD-RW drive
AMD Phenom II X3 / AM3 MOBO
4GB RAM

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

I solved the problem by using Acronis Disk Director 11 Home to move all the files to the "beginning" of the spanned partition, effectively eliminating the data on one disk and moving it to the remaining three.
