Hey as title says, i was recently building a comp i got a processor (Phenom II 550 considering 940 might unlock the other 2 cores though is you know a how to link, link it here please) I was considering a 9800 at first but i heard that ATI is coming out with some DX11 graphic cards and that a 4850 is better than a 9800 ( i was looking at a GTX+ or GTX) but i wanted something that would last and play new games, i plan on running crossfire or SLI, i was looking at a MSI k9n2 SLI Platinum Motherboard so if you know a nice (if possible AM3 support) motherboard that supports Crossfire do post if i consider ATI

the HD4850 is comparable to 9800GTX+ aka GTS250. normally it would be cheaper than GTS 250 but the price can be almost the same depends on where your country is. buying 4870/4890 or GTX275/285 will last you for a while but at this point i think its better to wait for ATi new line-up before deciding on any card :)

yeah thats what i was thinking, but from what i saw, i saw a 9800gtx for 119 at tiger direct =O and i saw some price leaks for the 58xx series seeing the 5850 being the cheapest at like $200 but i could probably just get a 4850 and get a 5870 or 5890 rofl in December or just wait all togeather

EDIT 5850 is like 250+

Wait for the new HD58xx series. If you have the money to spend on an HD4850 save and buy a new HD58xx in 3 days we will see what the new line-up is and by December Nvidia might have the GTX300 out and then the prices will go down. There are already anounced DirectX11 games(Dirt 2,an Aliens game) and there may be more that have not been anounced yet.
About the motherboard maybe this(there may be cheaper alternatives):

I hope it helped.

I agree with wait. New release is around the corner. The prices will drop. Either the new 5850 will be too expansive for you and you buy the 4850 cheap or the 5850 is so good it's a bargain at it's price and you buy it. It's a win win.

+1 :)
