Write protection not wanted!!!!

How do I disable the write protection feature on my computer (Windows XP) and/or diskettes. My computer is only for home use. I am tired of copying a document format from my disk, making wanted changes and having to save it under a different file name on my computer and then sending it back to the diskette. I cannot rename, organize or delete files on the diskette. There are times I could throw the whole works from a 10 story building!!!!

Right-click on the folder containing your files, go to Properties, uncheck Read Only, click on OK, apply changes to all subfolders and files when it asks you.

Also on diskettes and flash drives there is a tab you can click to make the disk read only to prevent accidental changes. Check that.
