Safe mode takes me back to password login

boy. dont kno whether its from screw n with tweak ui or what. i cant login at boot. password? name is there. safe mode takes me right back to login window. xp install cd is not appearing to work or i just get too nervous and abort. recovery download is joke. so its compatible, now buy it and we'll fix it. ophcrack has loaded but just figured it wont work either w/o buying.

Go into setup (f2) and make CD 1st boot device.
Insert Windows CD - Boot - repair install.
