No volume control icon windows XP says driver not installed code 28

Hello,
I have system sound but no audio on video, music, dvd etc. When I look at Control Panel under hardware device manager. The Multimedia Audio Controller says driver not installed code 28.Is there a download available to correct/update this? I do not have discs available.
