What is the most useful small bootable "OS" that folks use to boot up to, outside of windows, to clone data from one HDD to another, or partition or format a drive?
I still have a copy of MS-DOS in the toolkit, but there must be better more flexible applets now, possibly linux or other versions.
Is there a versatile download that you can burn to a CD, to have at the ready, when you need to look at a HDD from an unbiased viewpoint? Separate from the Win-RE?

True Image Home will clone as well as backup your files or entire drive and I use Mini-tool Partition Wizard to format and partition These tools can also be set up to boot your PC from a CD/DVD rom outside of windows.
