RAID1 move HD's new Hardware Access data

I have set a RAID 1 which is fine,
lets say my mother board raid chip failed , or I need to move those 2 drives to another box, would I be able to access that data on any of those drives? or I will need to finds the same hardware drives etc so I can see the data?

More about raid1 move hardware access data
  1. If you set RAID 1 on the 2 drives and your motherboard blows up, all you need to do is connect it to a new motherboard and it will read it.
  2. I'm still new to RAID, but RAID 1 is mirroring so you should be able to move EITHER drive to a new system and be up and running since each drive contains all your data.

Of course if your OS is on the drive and you boot with any different hardware (just the mobo or in a different system) you will probably have some configuration to do.

Please correct me if any of this is incorrect. I'm just using logic and my personal experience.
