I put a 4870 in there because I plan to get a dx11 card when they come out or maybe just crossfire another one(reason why im going cheap on the GPU for now)...thats why a 750w psu is there.

Another concern I had is the ASUS M4A79T mobo, which has reviews stating that a lot of them are shipped with old bios that don't support the 955 and wont even post with one....which I heard can be remedied either by removing the cmos battery then flashing the bios or just ordering a new bios chip from ASUS. This isn't the worst thing that could happen but I'd like to avoid it if possible...so any other good am3-crossfire supported mobos you have in mind, feel free to post them here lol.

Overall id just like to know if its best to wait or go for it....and of course any improvements you have in mind that will cut costs/boost performance(w/o increasing price much) are more than welcomed =) thx for any help

Mine posted perfectly fine, they should have exhausted their supply of ones with the old bios's by now.

Dont forget to combo

If you want to save some money you can get the 790gx board, it supports 8x/8x crossfire instead of the 16x/16x that the 790FX board supports.

Cant help you with a build for that far in the future yet, with the i5 due out mid september and the ATI GPUs potentially due out in late september, or october. Come back a few weeks before your ready to purchase and we will help you pick out a build, but right now you cannot fit the only reasonable intel option into your budget and we dont know enough about the upcoming one.

An Antec TruePower New 750W PSU is $100 with no rebate games. The case is a big personal preference item, but you could get a decent case for <$80, then possibly fit an i7 into this budget (if Microcenter still has them for $199). What is your monitor resolution? Since you're planning to buy a DX11 card anyway, if you can stand to reduce settings a little, get a HD4670 if that will give you the budget room for the i7.

Im using a 24" 1080p monitor for this....and actually I just saw that the CM storm sniper is on sale for $130...so that would save some money if I went with that. As for the the GPU im pretty solid on that, I think im going to stick with it.

Hmmm, not sure a 4670 would be reasonable for that resolution...

Yea if you could stretch the budget a little further and get a 4850 you would be in much better shape then with that 4670

I see a 4870 in the wish list. The OP also said this card may just be a place-holder until the DX11 cards come out.

DX11 cards for AMD are supposed to come out on Sept. 10th. If you could save your money and hold off until then you could get a 5870. That would save you about $75-150 depending on what GPU you were thinking about getting now.

thx for the opinions guys, I went ahead and ordered not too long ago. I found a good deal on buy.com for the case, so that kinda sealed the deal.
