Ethernet not working

I have an ASUS P7P55D PRO motherboard that I bought in 2009. When I first got the motherboard I installed windows xp professional and everything was fine. I recently upgraded to windows 7 and can't get the ethernet port to work. I can see it on the device manager, I installed and re-installed the drivers several times, I have searched all over for help on this issue and can't seem to find a solution. When I troubleshoot through windows 7 it simply says that the ethernet cable is not plugged in, but I do have the cable plugged in. I also checked the BIOS and everything seems to be fine. Please help me out here...

I have the same problem.Win 7 tells me there is no cable plugged in.I have tested everything with the hardware.I wounder if there´s an issue with Realteks drivers and win7.

One of the ways that did not work for me but might for you is to use a vista/xp disk for the drivers.

A few people I have spoken to have hadsuccess this way.
