Asus 785G, havent messed with these in research yet but, can be detemined to do both.

Well this setup would be pretty nice. If you don't need to crossfire then you could drop down to a 770 (third link). The Plats are sold out, so I recommended the reapers instead.

If you are not gaming then a 790g series or 785g series mb from ASUS , gigabyte, asrock and other quality mb makers will be fine .

The 790g/785g has onboard gfx that are easily powerful enough for all uses so you wont have to buy a separate graphics card

Might as well make it an AM3 mb and use DDR3 ram so you have the latest technology and the longest future proofing

Which Asus? 790gx or fx. big pay difference in both these.

fx has 2 16x pci-e 2.0 slots but, the cost is to much over a 790gx which will perform just aswell.

I thought about fx first But my pocket told me to go with the ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3.

Plus I can pick it up locally.

Sorry I mean I got the Gigabyte 785G which is am2+/am3 so im using ddr2 800 memory.

for you since its am3, ddr3 1333/1600 in g.skills / ocz will do you good. timings make sure there not CL:9-9-9-24, 8-8-8-24 is fine but preferably CL:6 or CL:7
