That would be pushing the PSU pretty hard. The PSU also only has 2 PCI-E power connectors, so you will need to use adapters for crossfire. If Corsair had meant for it to power 2 GPU's that both needed 2 PCI-E power connectors, they would have made it with 4 PCI-E connectors. That's how I see it anyway. The 750TX has plenty of power and the required 4 PCI-E power connectors. I certainly wouldn't use the 650TX in that system with crossfire 4890's.
It's offered as Crossfire and SLI ready. I know I would need to use the adapters but it comes with them. Corsair also has a reputation for having very under rated PSUs and it's either split down the middle. Either it can handle 2 X 4890s, or it can't at all. I'd hate to believe it can't. Either way, I think I'd like to try. I also really don't want to buy another PSU lol.
You're right, Corsair PSU's are excellent and are under-rated. I'm sure it would power the system, but it sure is cutting it a lot closer than I'd ever cut it, especially with an i7 system.
