Replacing 8400 GS with 9400gt

some guy at school told me that he was looking for a 9400gt to replace his 8400gs, BUT i dont know if the 8400gs is a pci or pcx16 card, so should i tell him to check the cards port or screw him over with it?

ohh, did i mention that he wants the 9400gt and doesnt want to upgrade his psu

He shouldn't need to upgrade his PSU, the 9400 is basically an even swap.
