Ok i'm planning to upgrade to 1156, but donno what processor, whats better value core i5 750 2.66GHz or i7 860 2.8GHz?

I'm not sure about prices in America or anywhere else but i assume the price differences is about the same as in NZ (% wise)

core i5 750 2.66GHz in NZ is $330
core i7 860 2.80GHz in NZ is $460

a $130 differences is it worth it for 133MHz more?

whats the overclock potential on them?

I would say it's not worth the money unless the hyperthreading will help you in specific situations.

There's an i5 OCing article on the front page!

Not seen anyone OC the 860, I assume it's going to go the same way as the i7-940.

The Speed stepping in the i7 860 is superior to the LGA1366 i7, as well as the i5. This is the feature that automatically overclocks individual cores on the fly as needed, when not under full cpu load. It is FAR more aggressive than the i5 speed stepping, so that may be a consideration in your decision.

If you don't plan to OC, then the 860 will perform a LOT faster in general use than the 133mhz indicates.

I got the impression OP would be OCing in which case turbo would be enabled. Would normally agree with you though.

Depends if you need hyperthreading, otherwise Core i5 will be fine.
