i did a little more research and these are the components i came up with just need a little insight from the professionals
the purpose of the computer will be light gaming sims 3/ spore/ fallout 3 maybe getting a little more into gaming since i am taking a leave of
absence and will have time to spare i also have a small ebay store set up and youtube channel and blogtv so will be doing light video editing
i was looking for a samsung hd monitor bc i have a samsung tv and i love it but could not find any on newegg at a decent price if any one knows where to find one please let me know
I like the antec 300 more than the 900 , but thats personal choice
the samsung f3 or seagate 7200.12 500 gig hard drives are faster
get vista 64 with the tech guarantee which is an upgrade to windows 7 so you dont get stuck with vista
c2d and c2q and socket 775 are out of production . You can do better for less
a Phenom X3 720 more than matches the e8400 [ which would eat the quad in games ] is $119 a GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P is $85 and 2 x2 gig of DDR3 should be around $80
this is the latest am3 platform from amd gaming its better than either of your cpu's/mb its not a dead platform and it will multitask much better
check the cpu charts on this site

e8x00 are quite slow, if dont plan to oc it to over 4ghz then it's not worth it. pick up a nice am3 mobo, ddr3 and http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produ [...] 6819103649 you will be more happy with this and also, you will be able to change it in the future for sth new and much more powerful. s775 is dying now while am3 is not. your psu might be a little too weak in the future so i'd take OCZ 600wats, since they are good and cheap.
But yeah. While the PII x3 720 is a great recommendation... how come nobody is mentioning graphic cards? IGPs are impressive... but not *that* impressive.
