For some reason my fps is not what it should be I get around 90 on hl2 and can even drop to lower then 60 over time I would like some input on what the issue could be here are my specs

OS:
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
Install Language: English (United States)
System Locale: English (United States)

Processor:
2.10 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
256 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded

Video Card:
Nvidia 9600 GT 512 MB
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT [Display adapter]
Acer X191W [Monitor] (19.1"vis, January 2007)

Its a processor bottleneck, you have 2 options, you can overclock it, or you can get a processor upgrade. What motherboard do you have as that determines which ones you can use?

if u can tell me a good processor I can get off like newegg or something
