Linux Support for Ati's M10?

is there any possibility to get 3D functionality with the ATI M10
(Mobility Radeon 9600) in Linux? Do newer Linux-Dist. support this chip?

In Mandrake10.official release (as an example), the installer will
recognize the Radeon and install the default driver for the ATI adapter,
at least for the early series of Radeon Mobility through 9200. However,
it is a software driver that does not support hardware acceleration.
ATI's Linux package has complete step-by-step instructions for building
a module and linking to the kernel, which does provide hardware support
for 3D and hardware acceleration. It would be best to do a Google
Groups and Google search for the distro you want to install to verify
that the ATI driver package will work and which kernel version is
required just to prevent any surprises.
