i just received my corsair a70 heatsink+fan, i have a amd athlon ii x4 620 and a gigabyte ga-ma785gmt-ud2h mobo. with the stock heatsink, the temp is 43-45 C. with the new heatsink, the temp is around 35 C, while in the reviews, people say that their idle temp reaches low 20 and max temp is around 37. my room temp is ~26C. I used the thermal paste that came with the corsair heatsink.
is it normal that my temp only lowered 10 C? how can i make my cpu cooler?
It's impossible to reach lower temps than ambient room temp with an air cooler. Typically idle is 7-10C above ambient and max load stress testing will see the CPU around 55-60 C or lower hopefully with a good HSF, for an AMD Athlon II CPU.
Your CPU temps with the new HSF look excellent! There's nothing that needs to be changed. Higher fan speeds or more fans might lower the temp a few more degrees C but not much and of course you'll have more noise as a result.
thanks guys for the reply, well after running prime95, my cpu under full load is about 44-45C which is pretty good imo. btw, i ran prime95 under blend selection, it says a little bit of everything is tested, for a cpu test, should i run another thing?
