OK, i just got my 3M download, 512K upload DSL or cable, or what ever it is... (the hub thingy says is a ADSL modem, so i assume is an ADSL)

but my download speed.. ack. for example, when i download netscape in download.com, i am getting 50K-ish... but with my old 1.5M, 256K upload, i get around 90K-ish.. so 3M is slower then 1.5M... (both are the same providers BTW)

But when i play HL or Q3, the ping i get is lower with 3M, is a 70 and 30 difference...

Can anyone recommend me a good tweaker or how to T.I.Y? (tweak it yourself, hey, i just made up a new term! :) )

1.5Mbs ~ 180KB/s
3Mbs ~ 360KB/s
both of those are capable of much more than 90KB/s you got... so chances are that the limit wasn't actually on your end, but on the server. The difference between 50 and 90 -may- have simply been different load on servers, or intentionally imposed limit on their end... nothing to do with your ability.
It's still a good idea to tweak your system. But I find that with broadband, you're rarely going to hit your download speed limit with just one download at a time -- I usually only approach my 1Mbps (128KB/s) limit if I have two or three things downloading at the same time, each one at approximately 40KB/s...

ps I use
Mbps=megaBIT per second,
KB/s = kiloBYTE per second

The biggest problem having broadband (xDSL,Cable etc.) is finding links that will send you a file as fast your capable of downloading it.
