Okay I just essentially copied this build: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/microatx-gaming-ove.... I put a bigger SSD in, used a cooler master 1000w 4x +12v power supply, and used some different ram. The motherboard, processor, video cards, cooling, case, and the location I put all the stuff inside the case is all the same.

The only thing is that I got a fan power splitter with the case and didn't realize it might not be a good idea to plug 3 fans into one plug on the motherboard. I powered it up and heard a pop and smelled burning. I immediately flipped the power supply off. Then I tried plugging the fans in separately to the fan plug on the motherboard where I had the splitter plugged in (the one at the bottom near the front panel plugs) then tried plugging into the one between the ram and the 24pin motherboard power plug. Neither of those worked with any of the fans individually plugged in. The one just above the top pci-e 16x slot worked just fine and the ones at the top left of the motherboard also work. I just went ahead and used a molex splitter to plug the 3 fans in and all the fans still work so I know it wasn't the fans.

I'm installing windows now and it seems to be working fine. POSTed just fine at 4.5GHz 1.35v. I cut it back down to automatic speeds for the windows install just in case, of course. The only problem is that I don't have any idea whether it's going to be a problem later on or has a chance to damage my other hardware. Should I go ahead and order a new board or just wait and see if there's a problem? Could it damage any of my other stuff?

System is working - overclocked. You will probably be OK. I would wait to see if the blown fan connectors give you any other problems.

Hmm nevermind I guess it actually loaded up at 3.4GHz. Not sure if it's clocked down 'cause it's not under load or if something is wrong with it though. Keeps saying like 3.4GHz target speed 3.8GHz.

Yeah I set it to 4.2GHz or 3.8GHz and it loads up at like 3.4GHz. Usually at like 3443MHz.

Though I guess it might just be that I haven't used these new BIOSes. I guess I'm actually editing the turbo speed? I guess I'm just overly worried about whether it will work after the popping and burning?

Okay yeah it jumped to 4.2GHz in cpu-z while running prime95. I guess speedstep didn't turn off when I told it to.
