Is this build good? And does anyone have some feedback on ewiz.com ? I'm gettin the great deals on the 4870 and the i7 from that website because of bing cashback.
I would recommend this RAM, I'm not sure exactly which G. Skill you are planning on purchasing but this RAM has lower latencies than the cheaper ones and is cheaper than the more expensive ones. Also are you considering crossfire in the future? (this could change your mobo and or PSU choices) Also, I can't say much about ewiz since I don't have any first hand experience with them.
For some reaosn, i feel like g.skill is a better ram company than ocz. They got better reviews on newegg. I'm upgrading from DDR 512MHz ram so i doubt i can notice the difference in latencies XD
But either way, is 8-8-8-24 a lot better than 9-9-9-24 ?
And i'm probably not going to SLI / Crossfire in the future.
I'm going to upgrade this computer in about 3 years, so crossfiring a 4870 won't do me much good with those games in the future.
I plan to buy an Nvidia card in 3 years, but not now because its kinda too much.
I'll probably SLI in the future future ( 5 years? ), but the 750w is already SLI certified, do i need 850w?
Newegg reviews are not even reviews. OCZ is certainly not a second-rate company. Yes the 7-7-7-24 RAM that I suggested will be quite faster than 9-9-9-24. And a 750W PSU should be fine for a long while.
Do you know if zipzoomfly.com is reliable with Memory? I found the same exact memory for $97 after bing cashback.... sounds too cheap for OCZ Plat 6gb ddr3...
Forgot to ask... What is your monitor resolution? This will determine GPU requirements. Also, why i7 920 over AM3 build? If system is just gaming, an AM3 buildis better for gaming, since you normally can budget in a better GPU.
Yeah i mean the actual Win 7. I'm not getting vista. The reason i want to just get everything now is just cause of school mainly... I want to build everything before school starts. I don't want to research parts during school because thats really time consuming. And even if i can save some more money in a couple of months, its only going to save me like $50-100, if even that because its still an I7 build. And i don't really care about 50-100 dollars atm.
My monitor resolution is at 1280 x 1024 ( I know its bad ) But i have a second monitor i always wanted to add and thats at 1440 x 900 ( I know its also bad )
So i'm getting a 4870 because i feel it can run two bad monitors
And i'm not going AM3 because going I7 is only like 100 dollars more right now. And honestly, i won't be gaming much at all. This computer should last me 5+ years and i
feel that I7 will be better prepared for the future than the Phenom II 955 BE. It is true that AM3 motherboards will support a lot of the upcoming AMD chips, but the 1366 socket is { Supposedly } able to support i9 chips ? 6-cores is ridiculous, but at least thats an upgrade option in the future. I'm not really sure if i can utilize 4 cores now o.o But ide rather be over prepared than disappointed at a dual-core.
