Forum CPU & Components : Other Components Boot screen does not show installed amount of RAM on pc

I have a dell dim 4550, win XP sp2, I recently upgraded the RAM from 768mb to it's max of 1024mb. After I installed 2x 512mb of RAM, the boot up screen is only showing 512mb, but everywhere else that I check (system info, etc.) it's telling me that it has the 1024mb. Why does the boot screen show even less than I previously had for RAM which was 768mb instead of the 1gb that I now have? Thank you...

Maybe the BIOS is only detecting one stick at start up when it checks all the hardware. To be sure, just go into the BIOS and check it. If it says 1024, you're good to go. I wouldn't worry about the start up screen.

Can you access TH on your smart phone?
