Hi!

I want to start to thanks everyone who are helping others, really. English is not my main language (French, Quebec, Canada), so sorry for bad spelling and synthax errors.

I currently have an athlon 64 3200+ that is getting old so I would like to use a new computer for gaming and working (mostly programming/web design).

I have a budget of +- 1,500$ CAN, I do a little video/pictures editing. I already have a screen and dvd drive. I am a speed freak, I don't do benchmarks but I want a computer that load things fast (I will use win seven 64 bit).

Well, I made a quick list of parts i'd want to buy.

Note : Ncix products only please, that are IN stock, thanks!. I have little experience in building computers, but I probably don't know all of the cooling, psu, etc rules.

Antec Nine Hundred Mid Tower Gamer Case 900 ATX 9 Drive Bay No PS Top USB2.0 1394 Audio $105.98
I think that is the case I want, seems to have enough space and lots of fans!

Corsair TX750W 750W ATX 12V 60A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 140MM Fan *IR-$20* $114.99
I prefer to have more power, I want to be able to upgrade my computer (crossfire 4870s maybe) without needing to buy new psu.

Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S $309.99
I would like to overclock to ~3.6/3.8 Ghz, good idea??

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 3.5IN 8.5MS 7200RPM 32MB Hard Drive OEM *3YR MFR Warranty* $88.98

Corsair XMS3 Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600 CL 8-8-8-24 Core i7 Memory Kit $199.99

ASUS P6T X58 ATX LGA1366 DDR3 LGA1366 3PCI-E16 PCI-E1 2PCI CrossFire SLI SATA2 GBLAN Motherboard $269.99
Will this motherboard be able to give me the full advantage of my hardware, and future upgrade? ( crossfire 4870s )

XFX Radeon HD 4870 750MHZ 1GB 3.6GHZ GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDCP Video Card $161.99

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme 1366RT Heatpipe Cooler LGA1366 120MM Fan FDB 1600RPM 28.0DBA 63.7CFM $77.48
Will it fit on my motherboard with the dominator (I heard the heatsink on the ram causes fit problems sometimes)? will it cool enought to overclock the i7?

Now all of that go for $1,340.39 CAN for the hardware, no taxes or shipping.

Do i need anything else??
Thank you for paying attention and helping, I really appreciate everyone's effort!

NCIX does price match so shop around with direct canada and newegg.ca.

You can save a bunch and get a better rebate by going with the XFX 4870, what resolution are you running on? You may be able to get away with less.

The OCZ platinum ram is significantly cheaper and will run faster

Thanks for the advice on the ram! (but I just noticed it was out of stock :( ) does the timing really makes a big difference ? why is the ocz cheaper ? quality ? or is it just because the dominator looks nice.

For the video card, I heard bad reviews about XFX that's why I chose a Sapphire one because I already had 2 Sapphire (9600xt and x1650) and I never had any problems with them.

oh ! I run on a 1650x1050 resolution.

the dominators are just plain over priced, havent figured out why yet, the difference between CL9 and CL7 on 1600MHz ram is more of a performance difference than 1066MHz to 1600MHz. Yes timings do make a big difference, and if you can get better for cheaper why wouldnt you? XFX provides a lifetime warranty for the card, and for the person you sell the card to. The chips are all made in the same fab by ATI and there isnt much of a difference even between the powercolor cards and the more expensive ones so im not sure who told you that XFX was bad.

Oh, lifetime warrantry is really interesting, Ill go with the XFX then.

I can't find ram with better timing that are in stock right now (in the same price range) except this one:

is it any good ?

thanks a lot for your help !
