Hello,
I am wondering what the setting are for the paging file in virtual memory when you upgrade from 768 mb of ram to 4 gb of ram. I am running windows xp pro. My harddrive is only 40 gb for now . I have only 20 gb of free space left. I will upgrade harddrive eventually. I know the general rule by reading that it is 1.5 times the ram and 3 times that number. But you can only set the paging in mb. I am some what computer savy but am not sure what the optimal setting should be.

The most that i am able to manually input into the file is 4096. So how would multiplying by 1.5 work. It should be about 6000 but i cannot input this into the min or max. Is there another setting i am missing. and then the the maximum would be oh about 9000. This is at least what i would figure it out to be to put in the min and max box. I have tried the computer managed and it seems to be about the same as putting the both values at 4096 or both values at another recommended rate of 2056. I just don't see how i could input the 1.5 and x3 method if the computer will not allow the values.
Thanks for the input
