Hello,

There is no easy trick to remove the read only setting on the HDD

Please list how this HDD has been used (?external USB connected SATA) and what happened that might have caused it (?for example unplugging it without the "safe to remove" icon) or whatever, how the disk was partitioned, and formatted (?NTFS). Is this an external HDD connected to a laptop?

One thing you might check on, is in "My Computer" bring up the fixed and removable drives. Rt click on this one, choose properties, and then Security.
highlight Users (You), then click Edit. In the lower section make a note of the checks in the checkboxes, and check Full Control. Click OK twice to finish and see if that gives you access to it.

Let us know what you find.
