I have a 3.40 ghz dual core in my pc and am thinking about swapping it for a core 2 duo e7300 wolfdale 2.66 ghz. which would be better for performance with games.

Which Dual Core? Are you talking about a Pentium Dual Core (ie E5200) or Pentium D? List full specs.

even the pentium dual core e5200 which is 2.5 ghz will be faster than your pentium d at 3.4ghz

Based on his post being so simplistic I would guess a Pentium D since they went that high and that he is not super tech savvy.

So my conclusion, E7300 will be faster.

The E7300 is much better, but you'll have to check to see if your motherboard will support it.
