I am looking to place a temperature probe inside my case so I can measure the ambient temperature. Where would be a good place to put this probe in order to read the ambient case temp as accurately as possible.

Ambient air temp is the outside air temp around your computer.

I'd measure just in front of one of your intake fans.

Use temperature monitoring software for the drives, CPU, and GPU.
